Artistry Photo Shoot w/ Model Nicole Borjon

This photo shoot took place yesterday Wednesday August 8th and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I would like to give a big "Thank you!" to the model as she obviously by the pictorials did an amazing job. Editorial shots are by far my favorite.

Their were a total of two looks and the first consisted of a natural look as a picture can be seen to the right. The makeup really tended to focus on her bright eyes and used natural tones to compliment her Mac lipstick. Hair was given volume and loose wavy curls which really complimented her wardrobe.

The second look was a bit more edgy and more editorial as she the makeup became more vibrant and bold. These shots were simply amazing and really emphasized on the styling and clothing products. A total of three eye shadows were used on the lids including smoky cat liner.

Never Look Back

I find it sad to believe that I haven't submitted a post for quite some time. To be exact October 2012. Wow, so disappointing to me as it has been close to a year. I guess I let my professional career take priority as several times before. As a Finance Manager of a well known "Credit Re-Establishment" program I had plenty on my plate. To be honest I was overfed. Responsibilities, tasks, meetings, growth and development increased my stress day to day.

Well I am glad to say that I am no longer in that career field:) I am very happy in my current stage of life and I WILL NEVER LOOK BACK because I now understand that I was given this unique opportunity to finally work towards achieving my goal. A goal I've had since the young age of six. I am taking my first step of becoming a professional makeup artist. I consider myself a skilled makeup artist who has been self taught but am looking to obtain my professional consideration.

I had my first photo shoot this afternoon of 2013 and was overjoyed with the experience and great outcome. I have another photo shoot this Friday and another planned next week.

I WILL NEVER LOOK BACK because I have a BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD OF ME.

Truly,

Melissa Marie

“All the effort in the world won't matter if you're not inspired.” - Chuck Palahniuk

As you may have noticed I took about a week and a half off from posting blogs. I have a bit much going on at work and as usual my true passion often suffers. I have quite a few people around me that take on various tasks and responsibilities on top of their regular work schedule and every day I am unsure as to how it is being handled. Is it just me? I am that over stressed and over worked? Am I exhausted or just simply lazy? These are questions that I ask myself on a daily basis. When I do dedicate my time to my true passion true positivity occurs and I am a step closer to making my dreams come true and accomplishing the goals I am set myself. Inspiration is the key to reaching that success that everyone is out to reach. Dedication is what everyone should vow to have in order to successfully put in place the action plan which has been generated.

I chose this very unique portrait here because it reminds me that I have to enjoy the life I live and always remember to have fun and find the joy in everything I do. It's so hard to let the daily challenges and objections affect your attitude so this is a glimpse as to how I truly enjoy my life and know this is what I love to do. So here I continue to publish my work and let everyone take a peek in to my life and learn who exactly Melissa Marie is and what Melissa Marie represents.

“Be like a postage stamp. Stick to it until you get there” - Bob Proctor

I recently had a small situation that occurred at work that truly reiterated the importance of dedication. As well as the importance of patience. I had an employee who had worked for me for about one year and one day, just recently, got up and left, initially instantly resigning because he had found employment else where. The reasoning behind this was that he was not expecting to jump through hoops and obstacles for an opportunity to become a Sales Manager and be given his own location to run. Initially, an opportunity he had wished for since beginning his employment with the company. I had multiple conversations with him regarding this and made it very clear that he was the top candidate in the running for the position but clearly wasn't enough. To make a long story short, initially he resigned in a very unexpectedly and unprofessionally. A week later he contacted me pleading that he had made a mistake and wanted to return. Upon his return his seniority was reset and lost his spot as the top candidate for the Sales Manager position. These were consequences that he had suffered because he had been impatient and had lost the dedication he has had.

So with this story I hope the message is very clear. If you truly wish to accomplish greatness you have to ensure you have the dedication and the drive to take the steps needed to make your dream come true. You have ensure you posses the patience you need to reach the results you seek to obtain. Failure is highly possible but quitting is by far the worse. With Love, By Melissa Marie.

“You never have to change anything you got up in the middle of the night to write.”- Saul Bellow

Nightlife is truly a method of relaxation for me specifically. All of the hard work and hours I put in at work gives me an excuse to enjoy a drink or two, or three and enjoy the surroundings at any restaurant or bar I may visit. The preparation in fixing ourselves ladies is quite a large amount of time but it's defines, at least for me, how the rest of the night will be. I need to be confident that I am representing myself, and that I feel confident about the way I look. In writing this blog I will ask the following question. Why are Women self conscious? I find myself being a bit more self conscious in a public setting like a bar or a club. I hate to admit it but I am. Who often finds themselves scoping out the women and making a comment about their wardrobe? (yes, let's admit it ,we all know we do.)

My answer to the question in bold above is because we are surrounded my thousands of publications that advertise and plant stereotypes of beauty that are un-accomplishable, irregular and honestly un-acceptable. I have mentioned several times that my main goal is to break down the stereotypical parameters that have been set in place and display true beauty. We have to ensure that we are honest with ourselves and realize that we are each beautiful in our own way. We need to be strong and follow our own path, especially when it goes against the crowd.

So I vow to always represent no one but my true self and vow to have complete confidence. Which I have but if my hair or makeup isn't perfect, or I don't exactly like my wardrobe, or if I wore the wrong shoes I vow to have, THE BEST NIGHT EVER, regardless. lol.

Artistry By Melissa Marie: "Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror." - Khalil Gibran

I would like to introduce you to my Artistry By Melissa Marie post. This is the first post of this kind and many more are soon to come. With all of the makeup gurus and beauty channels that is present on YouTube the same topics and videos are always being created. I always sought for something different. Something that I have never seen done before. I have no plans on posting on YouTube as I really lack the availability and time but I will be committing myself in introducing one of my aspirations in life. (Drum Roll Please!.....)

Artistry! To make it a bit  clearer I want to get involved with the public and teach them about Fashion and Beauty. Image consulting in a sense but much more deeper. I want to display by techniques regarding fashion, styling, makeup, shopping and letting the best you be displayed. I want to take real women and display that anyone can model and look gorgeous regardless of anything stereotypical.  Here, below, if my first Artistry By Melissa Marie post and I am proud to announce that my cousin assisted me by volunteering.

Makeup Tricks for Flawless Skin

1) Primer- After you moisturize, spread on a light primer with silica, which has a filling effect. A foundation that's creamy and moisturizing won't settle into fine lines and wrinkles, but use it sparingly—the more you add, the more pronounced lines will look.

2) Foundation- Choose a liquid foundation with silicone. Avoid luminous or matte ones (they make the skin appear either too moist or too flat to be natural), and instead look for the words "lightweight," "sheer," or "invisible."

3) Find Your Shade- To find a foundation that matches your complexion, test the color on your neck. Your skin tone is more uniform there than it is on your face, so you'll wind up with a shade that's just right. You'll also avoid that dreaded demarcation along the jawline.

4) Apply Your Foundation Sparingly- Dab on six dime-size dots of foundation: two on your forehead, one each on the tip and along the sides of your nose, and the last on your chin. Using two fingers, spread the color over your forehead, down your nose, across your cheeks, over your chin, and along the sides of your face. Always blend down or sideways—never up—to prevent foundation from catching in peach fuzz.

5) Diffuse with a Sponge- Tap a clean, damp makeup sponge around the nose, over wrinkles, and anywhere your base is noticeable to remove excess that could crease or emphasize lines. The Beauty Blender's pointed end gets around your nose; its oval base is perfect elsewhere.

6) Hide Imperfections- With a fine-tipped brush, dab a solid concealer over blemishes or dark spots that are still visible. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage comes with two shades you can blend.
• Get rid of redness with a yellow-based foundation, such as Clinique Redness Solutions Makeup. Smooth it over any discoloration with your fingers, and then blur the edges with a damp makeup sponge.
• Hide under eye circles with a creamy formula, such as Maybelline New York Fit Me, tapping it on with your ring finger.

7) Powder! Powder! Powder!- Dip a large, fluffy brush in loose translucent powder. (I like Dior DiorSkin Matte and Luminous Hydrating Loose Powder.) Tap off excess and dust powder where you tend to get shiny.

"In every girl's mind, there's a memory that she'll never forget and a summer where it all began."

This summer is by far one of the best. We had so many adventures and experiences that I will always remember and reminisce. But I unable to say that I am not looking forward to Fall. I am working on transitioning my wardrobe for the new season. I will still be keeping my fedoras and shorts out as I can wear them with tights but the options for Fall will be endless. I have a routine in place where I actually purchase all of the Fall and Winter sweaters early as I always locate great finds for a spectacular price. I accomplished this just three weeks ago. I purchased over 16 items for under $120 total! Yes, $120 total! lol. The more the merrier, right. Be sure to enjoy the few weeks of Summer we have left because Fall is right around the corner!
